TOCCOA, Ga. – The fourth-ranked University of North Georgia men's golf team finished in third place out of 15 teams at the McCoy Wright Currahee Collegiate. The Nighthawks shot a total score of 291 (+3) in the first round and followed it with a 292 and 293 in the second and third rounds.
Evan Thompson and
Noah Zediker led the charge for UNG, shooting a 215 (-1) and finishing in a tie for fourth.
Stephen Kinsel shot 224 (+8) and finished in a tie for 34th.
Ryan Hogan and
Hughes Threlkeld followed in a tie for 47th, shooting 229 (+13).
Will Chambless finished tied for 24th at four-over-par, playing as an individual.
No. 7 Anderson won the event at five-over-par, and Harry Lord of Lincoln Memorial won the individual title by shooting 212 (-4).
The 54-hole, two-day event features a par-72, 7,513-yard layout at the Currahee Golf Course. Nearly every team in the 15-team field is receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll. Eight of the top 16 squads in the nation, including half of the top 10 teams in the nation, are participating in the tournament.
