DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia is set to host its Fall Invitational beginning Oct. 21-22 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. The event will host 12 men's and women's tennis teams from across the southeast. UNG Tennis head coach
Kent Norsworthy is excited about the event and looks forward to closing out their fall schedule at home.
"We are excited to host our invitational again, partnering with Brenau. This event has grown to over 100 matches at each facility over the weekend. This will be a very competitive weekend with strong programs that will be participating. This event will cap off our fall schedule, so we look forward to a great weekend of tennis."
The men's teams will be playing at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek, while the women's teams will be playing at Brenau in Gainesville. This will be the third consecutive year UNG has hosted the event. The field features players from Auburn Montgomery, Brenau, Emmanuel, North Georgia, Reinhardt, West Georgia and Young Harris.
Men's Schedule:
Friday - 1:30 p.m. doubles rounds begin, 3:30 p.m. singles rounds begin
Saturday - 9:00 a.m. doubles round, 9:45 a.m. singles rounds begin
Women's Schedule:
Friday - 9:00 a.m. - singles rounds begin, 3:45 p.m. doubles rounds begin
Saturday - 9:00 a.m. doubles rounds, followed by two rounds of singles
Format
• Doubles will be played to a single set to six with no-ad scoring and a tiebreaker at six all.
• Singles will be played two out of three sets with no-ad scoring and a 10-point tiebreaker for the third set.
• Lets will be played out per NCAA Division II rules.
• Five minute warmup with opponents for each round of doubles and singles.
• All players will be guaranteed three doubles and three singles matches.
• Coaches will have the option of moving players into higher or lower strength levels each round or playing different doubles teams together.
