PALM HARBOR, Fla. – The No. 4 University of North Georgia men's golf team posted an eight-over-par 292 in the final round to finishthe Copperhead Championship hosted by West Florida in a tie for fourth place.
Ryan Hogan led the Nighthawks as he carded a one-under-par 70 in the final round to move up nine spots in the leaderboard.
Hogan began the tournament with a slow start shooting a seven-over-par 78 before shooting under par in his second and third rounds.
Will Chambless (73-74-72--216, 22nd) also rose up the leaderboard nine spots and finished second on the team.
Hughes Threlkeld and
Stephen Kinsel would follow in third and fourth for the Nighthawks, shooting a 36-hole total of 221 to place them tied for 30th.
The Nighthawks shot a 289 (+5) in the opening round before recording a 290 (+6) in the second loop. A 292 (+8) final round would finish the week for the Nighthawks in Florida.
No. 2 Lee University finished first with a one-over-par total, two strokes ahead of the No. 3 West Florida. Matt Millar of CSU-Pueblo and West Florida's Felipe Garces Garzon finished the 54-hole event in a tie for first at six-under-par. Matt Millar won in the first playoff hole to earn the individual title.
UNG returns to action on Oct. 24-25 at the McCoy Wright Currahee Collegiate in Toccoa, Ga.
