SUMTER, S.C. - University of North Georgia men's tennis player
Joaquin Benoit is still in contention for the ITA Regionals singles crown after he won a pair of matches Sunday.
Benoit won both of his matches in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-3 in the opener and 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. He will play in the semifinals against Luka Brown at 10 a.m. Monday, and should he win, he will take on a Columbus State player in either Alvaro Regalado or Javier Cueto Ramos in the championship match at 1 p.m.
In other action for UNG,
Ryan Gaskin made a run to the quarterfinal after a three-set win in the round of 16. He, along with
Sebastian Murillo, advanced through to the semifinals of the doubles draw before being defeated by a 9-7 score.
The consolation draws were not played out to completion after Saturday's results.
