Women's Soccer Fires Record Number of Shots in 3-1 Win Over Albany State

ALBANY, Ga. - The University of North Georgia women's soccer team fired off 57 shots, setting a new program record in a 3-1 win over Albany State in Peach Belt Conference action Saturday.

After the Golden Rams scored on what would end up as their lone shot of the game off a corner kick in the eighth minute, North Georgia fired off 22 more shots in the first half with none finding the net. UNG finally broke through in the 55th minute off a rebound that Taylor Malasek slotted home to tie the match.

The Nighthawks took the lead just five minutes later on a goal from Maysoon El-Shami. UNG put the match away in the 88th minute as Skylar Abbott crossed it in to Michelle LaPenta who tapped it home to bring the score to 3-1.

NOTES
- North Georgia's 57 shots shatters the previous school record of 49 against Georgia Southwestern in 2014.
