DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia women's soccer team turned in a clean sheet Wednesday as they shut out USC Aiken, 3-0, to extend the winning streak to five matches.
Maysoon El-Shami got North Georgia on the board first in the 10th minute with a left footed shot that went over the outstretched arms of the Pacer keeper. UNG doubled its lead eight minutes later when
Taylor Malasek scored her 45th career goal on a free kick from just outside the box.
El-Shami found one more goal in the 63rd minute as she headed home a rebound off the crossbar to bring the match to its final score.
NOTES
- The two-goal performance is the first of El-Shami's career. Bringing her total on the year to three goals scored, the sophomore has nearly doubled her career goals scored in the past two games.
- UNG took 32 shots on the night compared to just one from USCA. 13 of the Nighthawk shots were on target.
- North Georgia's 829 fans in the stands was a season high for Division II.
