DAHLONEGA - Trailing by a goal at halftime, the University of North Georgia men's soccer team found two second half goals, including a penalty kick, and then held on for a 2-1 win over Georgia Southwestern Saturday night at the UNG Soccer Complex at Lynn Cottrell Park.
The 'Canes scored in the 35th minute on a breakaway to take the 1-0 lead into the half, but UNG came out after the break, putting a ton of pressure on the back line of GSW and earning a goal by
Anton Madsen just five minutes into the second half.
After the game sat at 1-1 for a majority of the second half,
Gustavo Alencar earned a penalty kick that he slipped past the Hurricane keeper in the lower left corner to take the lead. GSW pushed numbers forward for the final 20 minutes but couldn't break through as UNG earned three points in PBC play.
NOTES
- The Nighthawk back line allowed just a pair of shots from GSW.
- North Georgia held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks and put six shots on goal in the match.
