DAHLONEGA - With fractions of a second left in the first overtime period, University of North Georgia men's soccer player
Kevin Lopez headed home the game's only goal to give the Nighthawks a 1-0 win over Clayton State Monday afternoon.
Neither team could break through in regulation, forcing the game into extra time. From there, North Georgia pushed forward, earning a free kick from 45 yards out with six seconds left.
Benjamin Elgueta sent the free kick into the box where
Michael Walsh headed it across frame to a wide open Lopez for the game winner.
NOTES
- The Nighthawks earned their first win of the season and their first overtime win since September 15, 2018, a 2-1 win over Montevallo.

Garrett Liles earned his first collegiate clean sheet in his first start, turning away the only three shots Clayton State put on target.
