DAHLONEGA - The No. 12 University of North Georgia women's soccer team put up seven goals Monday afternoon, holding Georgia Southwestern without a shot as the Nighthawks won, 7-0.
UNG got on the board in the fifth minute when
Katey Derkay found
Nikki Gomez for the first goal of the game. 10 minutes later,
Charlotte Rindt sent a ball to
Taylor Malasek for her third goal of the season, doubling the Nighthawk lead.
The goals came often in the second half, starting in the 49th minute with a
Cat Watry goal that kickstarted the half.
Abbie Crane scored in the 53rd minute off a pass from Malasek, and
Skylar Dzenis kept it going in the 74th off a
Kristina Burkingstock assist.
Brenley Townsend factored into both of the final goals, scoring in the 77th before assisting on
Megan Dumond's goal in the 86th minute.
NOTES
- North Georgia fired 30 shots on the day while Georgia Southwestern never got a shot off.
- The Nighthawks held 67 percent of the possession with nearly 50 percent of it coming in the final third.
- GSW's Trinity Chastain made eight saves on 15 Nighthawk shots on goal.
