DAHLONEGA - A two-goal performance for
Santiago Gimenez paced the University of North Georgia men's soccer team to a 7-1 win over USC Aiken Sunday afternoon at the UNG Soccer Complex at Lynn Cottrell Park.
North Georgia got on the board early as
Gustavo Alencar took a pass from
Benjamin Elgueta and fired with the left foot in the ninth minute to take a 1-0 lead. After a Pacer penalty kick was converted in the 19th minute,
Donovan Odier put the Nighthawks back on top in the 34th minute from the right side into the near low 90.
Victor Galterio got things started in the second half as he put home a shot just seconds into the half. Eight minutes later, Gimenez scored his first before scoring again 51 seconds later off an assist from
Dawid Zajac that gave UNG a 5-1 lead.
Haden Davis found
Elias Araya in the 18 for the game's sixth goal before Davis tapped in the game's final goal in the 87th off assists from
John McDonald and
Josh Corlett.
NOTES
- The seven goal outburst is tied for the second most goals in a single game in program history, tying a match against Reinhardt from 2005. It is also the fifth time that UNG has finished with five assists in a single game in UNG history.

Rafael Callegari made four saves on the day, allowing just the PK past him for the win.
- UNG fired off 28 shots, including 16 on target.
