DAHLONEGA - Fresh off a trip to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship in Denver, the reigning Southeast Region champion University of North Georgia softball team has announced its schedule of games for the 2022 season. The season includes 14 home dates throughout the regular season.
North Georgia will kick off its defense of the Southeast Region crown at the Gulf Shores Invitational February 5 and 6 where they will take on the likes of Delta State, Mississippi College, Valdosta State and West Florida. One weekend later from February 11-13, North Georgia will play host to the UNG Leadoff Classic, taking on Texas A&M - Commerce, Davis & Elkins and Florida Southern over the three day event.
After playing host to Claflin in doubleheader action February 16, the Nighthawks will make their first trip of the season to Lander to take part in the Bearcat Invitational. UNG will take on future Peach Belt opponent USC Beaufort and Chowan February 19 and 20.
The Nighthawks will then play the next three opponents all on the road, starting with a Florida swing through Eckerd and Tampa February 23 and 24, respectively. North Georgia will open Peach Belt play at Columbus State and the new three game conference series March 5-6.
UNG will return home just days later to take on UAH in a doubleheader March 9 before the home conference opener against Augusta March 11-12. The five game reprieve at home comes right before a seven game road trip through Shorter March 16, Lander March 18-19 and AUM March 22 before finally returning home to take on Young Harris March 26-27.
The Nighthawks will take on Lee (March 29), Georgia Southwestern (April 2-3), USC Aiken (April 15-16) and Emmanuel (April 20) on the road while hosting Georgia College (April 9-10), Lincoln Memorial (April 26) and Flagler (April 30-May 1) at The Hill to wrap up the regular season.
