DAHLONEGA – The coaching staff of the No. 3-ranked University of North Georgia (UNG) softball team was named the 2026 ATEC/NFCA Southeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Friday.

Head coach Brooke O'Hair earned the honor in her second season leading the Nighthawks alongside assistant coaches Darren Harmon and Alea Medina, as well as graduate assistants Hannah Stevens and Hannah Forehand.

North Georgia compiled a 51-10 overall record during the 2026 campaign while capturing both the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and Southeast Super Regional championships. The Nighthawks are currently competing in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Southeast Region honor makes North Georgia's staff eligible for the NFCA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year award, which will be announced June 15.

Eight programs were selected as regional coaching staffs of the year, with six advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championship. Regional and national coaching staffs of the year are voted on by NFCA member head coaches.
