Men's Soccer Starts Quick, Earns 4-2 Win at Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The University of North Georgia men's soccer team jumped out to a 4-0 lead through 60 minutes, going on to beat Lander, 4-2, Wednesday night.

Gabriel Campora got UNG on the board with a goal in the third minute, and 90 seconds later, Gustavo Alencar doubled the Nighthawk lead. In the 37th minute, the two linked up as Alencar pushed the ball to Campora for a 3-0 lead that held until halftime.

North Georgia scored their final goal of the match in the 60th minute when Payge Sinclair found Donovan Odier. Lander's Tom Marriott scored twice in the final half hour to get to the final score.

NOTES
- The win over the Bearcats is the first for UNG in the series in just over 10 years. North Georgia won, 3-0, in Dahlonega on October 22, 2011, the last win for the Nighthawks in the series.

- North Georgia took 12 shots, eight of which were on target. The Bearcats fired 19, seven on goal.

- UNG is now set themselves in a situation that, with a win Saturday, they would end up as the No. 5 seed in the Peach Belt tournament after Georgia Southwestern fell Wednesday to Flagler. The two would be tied at 4-7-1, but UNG's draw with Young Harris would give them the fifth seed.
