MURRAY, Ky. - Kimberlee Nettles was the top Nighthawk shooter at the Withrow Open as the No. 18 University of North Georgia rifle team finished seventh in the three-day event. North Georgia shot against UAB on Friday with the Blazers coming out on top by 48 points.
Nettles fired a team-best 577 in the smallbore discipline, including strings of 97 and 99 in the prone position and 97-96 in standing. She ranked No. 19 in the 55-shooter event in the discipline. The junior followed that up with a 576 in air rifle for an 1,153 aggregate score.
Tobin Sanctuary was the best air rifle shooter for UNG, notching a 580 with all six strings scoring 95 or higher.
In the overall standings, North Georgia finished nearly 200 points better than No. 17 UT Martin.
North Georgia will return to the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range for their next event on Saturday, February 1, against The Citadel.
