CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Three University of North Georgia women's golfers were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar list as announced by the association Monday afternoon.
Megan Sabol,
Karson Stone and
Alexis Whitney were three of a total of 1,097 women's collegiate golfers to be recognized with the prestigious honor. The three Nighthawks joined eight other Peach Belt women's golfers on the list, five from UNC Pembroke, two from Young Harris and one from Flagler.
In total, North Georgia has had 13 WGCA All-American Scholar honors with six players bringing home those honors. Sabol and Stone each were honored for the second time in their careers, while Whitney's honor was the first of her career. Former UNG golfers Taylor Allen and Shelby Hanna each won the award three times.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with each member needing a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
