DAHLONEGA - Five different players scored, including senior
Eren Ozer, as the University of North Georgia men's soccer team claimed the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Peach Belt Conference Tournament with a 5-0 win over Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
It took some time, but North Georgia finally broke through in the 23rd minute with
Dawid Zajac as he hit the shot with the back heel to put UNG up, 1-0. Six minutes later, the lead doubled as
Donovan Odier found
Jack Newhouse for a 2-0 lead.
Odier found the back of the net to start the second half scoring in the 67th minute before Ozer found paydirt off a free kick in the 77th.
Haden Davis scored the match's final goal in the 86th minute.
NOTES
- A lot of new spots were taken in the record book as North Georgia took 36 shots, tying a program best for shots in a match. Ozer tied the career record for goals with 17 over his career, while Odier is now second in program history for shots in a game with eight. The Nighthawks also claimed second in the program record book for assists in a match with six.
- North Georgia has now played in nine straight PBC Tournaments.
NEXT UP
With Clayton State's win Saturday over USC Aiken, the Nighthawks will now have to travel to Francis Marion for the PBC quarterfinal.
