FLORENCE, S.C. - Francis Marion was able to hold the University of North Georgia men's soccer team to just one shot in the opening half of play as the Patriots advanced on in the Peach Belt Conference tournament with a 2-0 win over the Nighthawks Tuesday night.
Alvaro Zamora got FMU on the board with a 10th minute goal from just inside the 18-yard box. The Patriots got the second goal in the 51st minute as Travis Cooke found Sidney Warden for a blast from 14 yards out to bring the match to its final score.
NOTES
- Although North Georgia just had seven shots in the contest, four of them were on target, forcing FMU's keeper to make saves to keep the shutout intact.
- This was the ninth straight year that UNG had made the Peach Belt tournament.
