DAHLONEGA - A fifth-minute goal by
Katey Derkay was all that was needed, but the No. 18 University of North Georgia women's soccer team found the net twice more as they advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals by downing Young Harris, 3-0, Tuesday night at the UNG Soccer Complex.
Derkay fired two shots in a matter of seconds to score the first goal of the night, the first of which was saved off the line by the YHC defense after the keeper was beaten by
Maysoon El-Shami. The Nighthawks were held scoreless until the 81st minute when
Taylor Malasek put home her 15th goal of the year just nine minutes before El-Shami scored in the waning seconds of the match.
