DAHLONEGA - In front of a record crowd for a women's soccer match, the No. 20 University of North Georgia women's soccer team shut out Georgia Southwestern, 3-0, Wednesday night on Spirit Night.
After a scoreless first half that saw GSW bunker and defend extremely well, the Nighthawks finally broke through in the 54th minute when
Katey Derkay took a pass from
Rosie Embley and pushed it inside the far post to put UNG up, 1-0.
North Georgia found a second goal in the 79th minute when
Dani Shartouny fired from distance off a failed clearance and found the bottom of the crossbar, bouncing the ball in the net to double the Nighthawk lead. Five minutes later,
Jazmin Adlam threw the ball in to Shartouny, who crossed it in to
Taylor Malasek. Malasek headed it home to bring the match to its final score.
