DAHLONEGA - Kimberlee Nettles shot a 591 in air rifle, a personal best, as the No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team defeated Georgia Southern and No. 20 UAB Saturday at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range.
Nettles shot either a 98 or 99 in each of her six strings in the air rifle discipline to get to her personal best. The junior finished as the top individual in the event, finishing with an aggregate score of 1161.
Tobin Sanctuary was the second individual on the aggregate leaderboard, starting with a 569 in smallbore that had him perfect in the prone position. A 583 in air rifle put Sanctuary with a 1152 aggregate score.
Jayne Fraley finished third on the aggregate scoring with an 1148 aggregate total.
In between the smallbore and air rifle disciplines, lane 1 at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range was dedicated to COL James T. Palmer, who retired last year as UNG's Commandant of Cadets.
The Nighthawks will next battle The Citadel on November 2.
