DAHLONEGA - A 72nd minute goal from
Taylor Malasek is all that was needed as the No. 20 University of North Georgia women's soccer team got back on the winning track with a 1-0 win over Clayton State on Make-A-Wish Day at the UNG Soccer Complex.
North Georgia nearly broke through twice in the first half, but both goals were nullified by offsides calls, leaving the match scoreless at halftime. UNG almost broke through again in the 58th minute when Malasek fired a shot from just off the corner of the penalty box and knocked it off the crossbar.
The Nighthawks finally found the goal as
Abbie Crane left the ball off for
Payton Bisso, who crossed the ball in for Malasek to head it home and give UNG the one-goal cushion. From there, North Georgia saw the match out to secure the clean sheet.
