LEXINGTON, Va. - The No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team had the four best shooters of the day as they took down VMI in Southern Conference action Saturday.
Jayne Fraley was the top shooter with an aggregate score of 1,154, including a 592 in air rifle that saw her shoot the final two strings as perfect 100s. Her 562 in smallbore was fourth best.
Kevin Vaughn finished one point behind Fraley in the aggregate scoring behind a meet-best 576 in the smallbore discipline. Every string he shot in the discipline was a 95 or higher.
Kimberlee Nettles finished as the third-best aggregate score at 1,150, while
Tobin Sanctuary was fourth at 1,142, 12 points clear of the next best shooter.
North Georgia finished with an aggregate score of 4,599, beating VMI's men's team by 92 points. The Nighthawks beat VMI's women's team by nearly 200 points.
The Nighthawks will have a quick turnaround as they battle NC State tomorrow morning in an event to be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
