DAHLONEGA - Danny Cameron earned a hat trick as Emmanuel defeated the University of North Georgia men's soccer team, 3-1, Wednesday night at the UNG Soccer Complex.
Cameron scored in the seventh and 28th minutes to give the Lions an early 2-0 lead before North Georgia answered with
Till Lammertz's first goal as a Nighthawk to cut the lead in half in the 38th minute.
Emmanuel put the game out of reach in the 73rd minute when Cameron intercepted a pass on the back line and struck his third goal of the match past
Matt Sharman on a one-on-one. The Nighthawks pushed forward looking to gain some momentum back, but Andy Dunnett stood tall for Emmanuel in goal to preserve the win.
NOTES
- The hat trick by Emmanuel was the first hat trick given up by North Georgia since October 26, 2016, when Clayton State's Ryan King scored three times for the Lakers.
- The Nighthawks outshot the Lions, 19-9, but both teams had just five shots on target.
Adam Farrell led North Georgia with five shots.
