Men's Soccer's Comeback Falls Just Short in Overtime at Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - After scoring twice in the second half to send the match to overtime, the University of North Georgia men's soccer team fell just short to Flagler, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference opener.

The Nighthawks struck first in the 13th minute when Francisco Alisiardi scored from just outside the box to give UNG a 1-0 lead. Flagler responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.

The Nighthawks came out strong in the second half, getting a 63rd minute goal from Adam Farrell and a 68th minute goal by Evan Davis. After both teams went scoreless the rest of the way in regulation, the Saint's Rodrigo Portillo scored in the 98th minute off a Samba Diop pass in the box to seal the PBC win for Flagler.

NOTES
- UNG lost its first PBC opener since a 4-1 loss to Young Harris in 2015.

- Farrell led North Georgia in shots with five. Prince Domafriyie had three shots for the Nighthawks.

- North Georgia has now lost two in a row for the first time in nearly a year. The Nighthawks lost to Lander and Lincoln Memorial in back-to-back matches last season.
