Box Score AIKEN, S.C. - Despite leading after doubles competition, the No. 17 University of North Georgia men's tennis team lost their second straight conference matchup, falling at USC Aiken, 5-4, Sunday afternoon.
Niklas Zielen and
Ryan Gaskin got UNG off on the right foot after winning their doubles matchup, 8-3, shortly before Kevin Candido and
Zack Waldow won at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Singles went much differently for the Pacers, though, as they won the first two matches to finish. Alvaro Garcia Gil won in straight sets at No. 3 doubles before Antonio Sabugueiro won a three-set thriller at No. 1 singles. Gaskin tied the match back up with a three-set win at No. 2 singles and
Tim Kiehl earned the lead back for the Nighthawks with a 6-4, 6-4 win. The Pacers, however, won at Nos. 5 and 6 to clinch the PBC win.
North Georgia will be back in action at home on Tuesday as they battle Lenoir-Rhyne. First serve at the UNG Tennis Complex is set for 1 p.m.
