Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Playing two matches in one day proved no problem for the No. 18 University of North Georgia men's tennis team as they defeated Belmont Abbey, 5-4, before sweeping Johnson C. Smith in the second match of the day, 9-0.

In the morning match against the Crusaders, the Nighthawks dug an early hole, dropping all three doubles matches. UNG fought hard though in the singles with Niklas Zielen starting the fight back, winning in straight sets: 6-0, 6-2.

After Zielen's win, the Nighthawks started bringing in the points. Ryan Gaskin and Tim Kiehl tied the match up after their straight sets win. The Crusaders took a 4-3 lead after a win at No. 4 doubles, but UNG won at No. 5 and No. 6 to seal the win as Zack Waldow won a third-set tiebreaker to clinch the final point for the Nighthawks.

The afternoon match was much easier for North Georgia as they gave up just five sets throughout all nine matches. Four singles matches finished with 6-0, 6-0 scores as the Nighthawks improved to 3-0 on the season.

The Nighthawks will next take the courts on Sunday, February 11 for the home opener against Lenoir-Rhyne. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the UNG Tennis Complex.
