Box Score DAHLONEGA - After a doubles sweep by the Nighthawks, the University of North Georgia men's tennis team coasted to a 7-2 win over Emmanuel in the 2017-18 season opener Wednesday at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
All three doubles teams ran past their Lion opponents by scores of 8-3.
Mark Laishley earned the first singles point at No. 4 singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score to put UNG up, 4-0.
After Emmanuel won at No. 3 singles,
Tim Kiehl finished his match at No. 2 singles in straight sets to clinch the win.
Ryan Gaskin won at No. 1 singles in a three-set come-from-behind match to earn UNG's sixth point of the day.
The match served as the lone event counting toward the overall record for North Georgia. The Nighthawks will next play on the road at Belmont Abbey on February 3.
