DAHLONEGA | Brenau rallied to win four of six singles matches to edge the University of North Georgia women's tennis team in non-conference action on Friday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex.
Mathilde Baartvedt and
Simone Krog were victorious in both singles and doubles as the duo teamed up to secure three of the Nighthawks' four points.
North Georgia jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles courtesy of wins in the second and third line.
Kathrin Waidner and
Emma Etelalahti defeated Fatya Berjane and Paula Rives 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Baartvedt and Krog breezed past Patricia Recalde and Kristen Dickins at No. 3 doubles.
Baartvedt (No. 4) and Krog (No. 5) would pick up straight set singles points for the Nighthawks, but the Golden Tigers evened the match with wins in the top three singles lines.
BU's Dickens rallied after dropping the first set to eventually edge UNG's
Lexa Rae Loden in a third set (4-6, 7-5, 6-1) to secure the road win for Golden Tigers.
The loss drops North Georgia to 10-6 on the season, while Brenau improves to 10-2.
Both Nighthawk tennis teams return to Peach Belt Conference action tomorrow (Mar. 26) with a 2:00 p.m. home match against USC Aiken.
