DAHLONEGA |  The University of North Georgia tennis teams split a pair of Peach Belt Conference matches on Saturday afternoon against nationally-ranked Lander at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.  The UNG women earned their first conference win with an impressive 8-1 win over the 29^th-ranked Bearcats while the No. 7 Lander men edged out the Nighthawks, 6-3, in a battle of top-25 programs.

In the women's match, the Nighthawks picked up their first PBC win in seven tries by jumping out to a fast start winning all three doubles lines.  North Georgia (4-8, 1-6 PBC) then clinched with a string of three straight-set wins in the top three singles lines.

Felicia Baratta, Rita Kaldawi, Natalia Escobar and Simone Krog were each able to post matching singles and doubles wins to give North Georgia its third win in their last four matches.

Lander entered the match ranked No. 29 nationally and sixth in the Southeast region.

In the men's match, Lander (No. 7 nationally and second in the Southeast Region) picked up two of three doubles matches including a battle of top-15 tandems in the first line where 11^th-ranked Adam Jonsson and Loic Minery escaped No. 12 Matheus Guida and Mateus Camasmie.

North Georgia's Philipp Mueller and Julian Schoeller blitzed Marc Hofer and Thibaut Leoussoff, 8-0, at the second doubles line for the Nighthawks' point.

After Guida evened the score at three apiece with a three set win at No. 1 singles, Lander clinched the victory with a string of wins in the middle of the lineup.

Lander improves to 8-2 and a perfect 6-0 in PBC play while North Georgia's five-match winning streak was snapped moving the Nighthawks to 9-3, 4-3 PBC.

Both teams will return to action on short rest when they step out of conference play with a home contest with King (Tenn.) tomorrow (Mar. 29) at 1:00 p.m.
