DAHLONEGA, Ga. | The No. 12 University of North Georgia women's soccer team scored four answered goals to earn a 4-1 win over Flagler in a Peach Belt Conference match Saturday afternoon at the UNG Soccer Complex.
North Georgia improved to 10-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 8-3-1 overall and 5-3-0 in conference play.
Flagler struck first when Annie Breen scored her second goal of the year to give the Saints the early lead.
But Flagler's lead was sort-lived as North Georgia scored a pair of goals in four minutes to take the lead.
Jessica Allen knocked in
Taylor Wagnon's corner kick in the 22
nd minute to tie the game and then 4:14 later,
Jessi Vaverka's shot found the back of the net after deflecting off a Flagler defender.
Rachel Van Horn tacked on another goal to give the Nighthawks a 3-1 lead in the 36
th minute.
Jade Pennock converted a penalty kick in the 81
st minute to cap the scoring.
NOTES-
Mallory Sayre tallied three saves for North Georgia.
- The Nighthawks out-shot the Saints 24-6 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
- The Nighthawk victory snapped a two-match winning streak for Flagler.
- North Georgia remains unbeaten at home this year with a 5-0-1 mark with one home regular season contest left in the 2015 campaign.
- UNG has won all seven meetings with Flagler since the series started in 2009.
