Irving Salgado Leads UNG Men's Soccer To 1-0 Shutout Victory Over Shorter

DAHLONEGA | Irving Salgado knocked home a goal in the 78th minute and the Nighthawk defense would preserve the shutout as the University of North Georgia men's soccer team defeated Shorter, 1-0, on Tuesday evening at the UNG Soccer Complex.

The Nighthawks are unbeaten in their last four matches and improve to 4-8-2 overall on the season.  Shorter falls to 5-8-1.

After a scoreless first half in which both teams collected six shots apiece, the UNG offense would press on all cylinders, outshooting the Hawks 16-3 after intermission.

Carl Ludwig Eriksson assisted Salgado's goal off of a corner kick.

NOTES
- North Georgia is unbeaten in its last four contests (3-0-1).
 
- The goal was Salgado's first career tally.
 
- North Georgia improves to 3-2-1 in home matches at the UNG Soccer Complex.

- Victor Ohlin collected five saves as the senior goalie improved to 4-3-1 in between the pipes for UNG.  It was his second shutout in the team's last three matches.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will step back into Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday (Oct. 24) with a home match against Flagler.  Kick off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
