Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to Francis Marion, 3-0

DAHLONEGA | Despite outshooting Francis Marion 22-18, the North Georgia men's soccer team was not able to find the scoreboard Saturday evening falling, 3-0, to the Patriots (6-1-2, 1-1-2 Peach Belt Conference). With the loss, UNG falls to 1-7-1 on the season and 0-2-0 in PBC action.

The Patriots outshot North Georgia 22-18 and led 10-4 in corner kicks.  Francis Marion goalkeeper Mike Warn recorded six saves in his fifth shutout of the season.

FMU got on the board in the 10-th minute when Jeremy Bonyaa tallied his first career goal thanks to an assist from Shahin Hemat.  Hemat rocketed a shot that was saved by Victor Ohlin, but the ball deflected to Bonyaa who finished the play for the easy score.

Gino Lucarelli doubled the Patriots lead at the 24:29 mark, beating Ohlin to the ball at the top of the box after a long ball in from midfield off the foot of Michael Eibl. Lucarelli then chipped a shot into the open net for his first career score.

Hemat completed the scoring in the second half, at 53:26, on a long-range 30-yard blast to the far post.

Hemat led FMU with six shots, four of which were on frame.

Ohlin finish with three saves in 45 minutes of work, while Diego Casillas –who played the second half for UNG– also made three stops.

The Nighthawks will return to action Wednesday evening, hosting Montevallo at the UNG Soccer Complex as the latter half of a women's/men's doubleheader. Kickoff for the men's game is set for 7:30 p.m.
