No. 4 Nighthawks Suffer First Home Loss of Season

DAHLONEGA | The No. 4 University of North Georgia soccer team allowed an early first half goal falling to No. 17 Columbus State, 1-0. It was the first home loss of the season for North Georgia (12-2-1, 6-1-1 Peach Belt).

The Cougars (12-1-1, 7-1-1 PBC) got on the board in the third-minute when Kelsey Pelletier slipped past UNG's Megan Morrow and made a quick strike off a ball headed from Nicole Corcione.

North Georgia came out of the gates strong in the second half but could never found a result on multiple attacks. UNG narrowly outshot Columbus State, 12-11, with both teams putting two shots on goal.

Junior keeper Mallory Sayre collected a save but moves to 12-2-1 on the year.

The Nighthawks will look to bounce back on the road this Saturday, traveling to St. Augustine, Florida to take on Flagler. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
