No. 10 Nighthawks Battle Back to Tie Braves, 1-1

PEMBROKE, North Carolina | The No. 10 University of North Georgia women's soccer team came from behind to force a tie with UNC Pembroke, 1-1, Saturday evening at Varsity Grounds. The Nighthawks move to 12-1-1 on the season with a 6-0-1 mark in Peach Belt play, while UNCP now stands at 9-3-2 and 5-2-1 in conference action.

The Braves found their way onto the scoreboard less than a minute from the halftime horn. Lovisa Gustafsson scored her fourth goal of the season on a pass from Rae-Shawna Campbell, giving her a one-on-one opportunity against Mallory Sayre.

UNG found the equalizer in the 68th minute when Cicely Taliaferro blasted a deflected Jacy Ramey shot into the back of the net. The scoring opportunity came off a North Georgia free kick.

Sayre, who earned three saves on the night, is now 12-1-1 on goal this year.

The Nighthawks return to Dahlonega this Wednesday in another marquee Peach Belt tilt, hosting No. 2 Columbus State with kickoff set for 6 p.m., at the UNG Soccer Complex.
