Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 10 Women’s Soccer Victorious In Battle of Peach Belt Unbeatens, 5-0

DAHLONGEA | The 10th-ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team needed less than six minutes to break No. 17 Clayton State's seven-match shutout streak. The Nighthawks (12-1-0, 6-0-0 PBC) used a dominant second half to put away the Lakers (12-2-0, 7-1-0 PBC) and end one of the nation's longest win streaks, taking the contest 5-0.

Sophomore Jacy Ramey opened up the scoring in the sixth minute, heading in a ball to the lower right corner from Jordan Draughon.

Draughon picked up another assist in the 34th when Brynn Finneran put one in the back of the net to extend the North Georgia lead to 2-0.

The Nighthawks, the nation's NCAA Division II scoring leader, scored three more goals in the first 15 minutes following intermission. Sophomore Sophia Matonak picked up the first on a midfield ball from Cicely Taliaferro in the 56th minute.

Taliaferro joined in on the goal-scoring fest less than two minutes later heading home a corner from fellow senior Megan Morrow. Ramey added her fifth goal of the season in the 60th, heading home a long ball from Jessica Allen.

Mallory Sayre moves to 12-1-0 on goal this season and picks up her fifth shutout of the year.

North Georgia will head to Pembroke, North Carolina this weekend to take on UNC Pembroke. Saturday's kickoff is set for 5 p.m., at Varsity Grounds.
