Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lakers Score Late In Each Half To Down Nighthawks, 3-1

DAHLONEGA | The University of North Georgia men's soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference decision with Clayton State on Wednesday evening at the UNG Soccer Complex.  The visiting Lakers scored a goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first half before holding off a Nighthawk charge in the final 45 minutes.

CSU's Nikola Gazibara slipped a shot in the lower left corner past keeper Victor Ohlin at the 43:17 mark to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead at intermission.

The score would stay that way for another 27 minutes until Arturo Cruz and Sekou Thornwell came together to make it 2-0 with the latter getting the goal at 70:54.
North Georgia made it interesting as Daniel Bowlt converted off of a free kick from 20 feet out to narrow the margin to 2-1 at the 85:49 mark, but the Lakers put the game away when Jonny Evans assisted a goal by Avery Sheppard at 88:52.

Bowlt delivered the only score for UNG, his first of the season, and was one of five players to fire off a pair of shots, each putting just one of those on net.  Ohlin played all 90 minutes in net and surrendered all three goals along with making four saves.

North Georgia will head to Pembroke, North Carolina this weekend to take on UNC Pembroke with Saturday's kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., at Varsity Grounds.
