AMERICUS, Georgia | A pair of offensive records were shattered on Saturday afternoon as the UNG women's soccer team breezed past Georgia Southwestern, 10-1 in Peach Belt play. North Georgia's 49 shots and 33 shots on goal bettered the previous school marks as the Nighthawks move to 11-1 on the season and remain a perfect 5-0 in league contests.
The offensive barrage broke the previous marks of 43 shots and 25 shots on goal set against Converse in 2006.
Seven different players found the back of the net for North Georgia, highlighted by a hat-trick from sophomore
Mollie Arrendale. The forward scored three times in a 15 minute span. Freshman
Jessi Vaverka added her second and third goals of the season to join Arrendale as the Nighthawks' only multiple-goal scorers.
UNG outshot the Hurricanes 49-3 including 33-2 in shots on frame.
Mallory Sayre earned her 11
th win of the year in goal after teaming with
Kylie Beaman to keep the Hurricanes at bay.
North Georgia, ranked No. 11 in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II poll, will host No. 20 Clayton State on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 5:00 p.m. at the UNG Soccer Complex.
