DAHLONEGA - The No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team competes at home for the first time this season as they battle No. 20 UAB and Georgia Southern in the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range.
Last Week: North Georgia split last week's events, defeating VMI to improve to 3-0 in SoCon action before falling to No. 15 NC State the next day.
SoCon Stats: The Nighthawks have the highest smallbore, air rifle and aggregate averages in the league.
Kimberlee Nettles and
Tobin Sanctuary are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in smallbore average, while
Jayne Fraley leads the league in air rifle average and aggregate average. Nettles is No. 2 in aggregate average.
CRCA Rankings: North Georgia held at No. 17 this week. UAB joins the top 20 rankings, coming in at No. 20.
Against the Opponents: Georgia Southern is 2-3 on the year and 1-2 in SoCon play. The Eagles average sixth in average aggregate scoring and smallbore and they rank fifth in air rifle. GSU has five freshmen on the team and one senior, led by Ashley Judson. UAB is 5-0 on the year, 2-0 in conference play. The Blazers are second in the league in all average scoring categories, trailing North Georgia in each discipline. Sophia Flores leads the Blazers in all three scoring areas and has the fourth best smallbore average, second best air rifle average and the third best aggregate average in the Southern Conference.
