How Isaza got to UNG
Valentino Isaza came to UNG in 2024 from nearby Lawrenceville, Ga. and Mountain View High School. While he competed during the school year with the Bears, Isaza was also a member of the Gwinnett Soccer Academy of the Elite Club National League. In 2022, Isaza was named to the ECNL U16 Southeast All-Conference First Team. It was in his club career that Isaza was first discovered by UNG head coach Anel Lilic all the way back in 2017. The two have known each other ever since and Isaza cites Lilic' promotion from assistant coach to interim head coach finally to head coach as the key reason he chose UNG. "When I saw he became the head coach at UNG, I knew this was the school I wanted to play at. The bond between the players is amazing, [they have] family like relations, which made it easy for me to pick UNG," said Isaza.
