How Gomez got to UNG
Samuel Gomez came to Dahlonega in 2024 with an outstanding pedigree from his high school career at Discovery High School. Gomez graduated from Discovery as the No. 11 ranked soccer player in the state of Georgia and No. 57 ranked player nationally. He scored 20 goals and tallied 15 assists in his high school days, totaling 55 points. 14 goals and nine assists came in Gomez's senior season. Gomez earned Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) 7A First Team All-State accolades as a senior as well as First Team All-County and First Team All-Region acclaim. He was approached by UNG head coach Anel Lilic, who had formerly coached Gomez at the club level, to come to UNG after his high school career.
