How Vazquez Toress got to UNG
Edgar Vazquez Torres arrives in Dahlonega and continues the pipeline head coach Anel Lilic has built between Johnson High School and UNG. Vazquez Torres will suit up this season with three of his former high school teammates Andres Galicia, Angel Sagrero and Jorge Sandoval. Last season, Vazquez Torres was the main goal scorer for a Knights squad that went 18-2-1 en route to a state champion runner up finish. Vazquez Torres was named the 8-AAAA Region Player of the Year. He also earned spots on the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) 4A All-State First Team and the Georgia High School Soccer 4A First Team All-State for his efforts. Prior to his senior season, Vazquez Torres helped build Johnson into a powerhouse, winning back-to-back state championships at the 5A level in 2022 and 4A level in 2023. It was thanks to Lilic's connections with Vazquez Torres' teammates past and present at Johnson that helped the head coach land one of the best high school scorers in Georgia.
