VALDOSTA, Ga. - The University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team completed a suspended first round and the full second round Friday at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional in Valdosta, Georgia, improving by 10 strokes as the Nighthawks continued regional play.

North Georgia opened the tournament with a team score of 302 in the first round before carding a 292 in round two. The Nighthawks were led by Hunter Smith, who followed a first-round 75 with a 2-under-par 70 in the second round that included an eagle on the ninth hole.

Grant Langford also turned in a strong second round for UNG, shooting a 1-under 71 after posting a 75 in the opening round.

Jack Rowe recorded matching 75s in the suspended first round before shooting an 80 in round two, while Colby Bennett improved from a 77 in round one to a 75 in the second round. Rhett Smith rounded out the lineup with scores of 77 and 76.

At the top of the team leaderboard, West Florida and Nova Southeastern finished the day tied for first at 15-under-par 561 after two rounds.

The third and final round of the regional is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Saturday.
