VALDOSTA, Ga. – Weather delays and darkness suspended play during the opening round of the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional on Thursday, leaving the University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team tied for 12th place before the completion of round one.
The Nighthawks sat at 4-over par through holes 11-14 when play was halted. Florida Southern leads the field at 10-under par after play was suspended in round one.
Colby Bennett paced the Nighthawks at even par through 11 holes.
Rhett Smith was 1-over through 14 holes, while
Hunter Smith also stood at 1-over through 12 holes.
Jack Rowe sat at 2-over, while
Grant Langford was also 2-over through 11 holes.
Round one is scheduled to resume Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. Round two will begin with a shotgun start following the completion of the opening round.
The top seven finishing teams from the 20-team regional will advance the 2025 NCAA Division II Championship in Boulder City, Nev. The stacked field features 14 teams ranked inside the top-20 in the country.
