ST. LOUIS – The No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team sits in fourth place after two rounds of play at the UMSL Spring Invitational on Sunday.
The Nighthawks opened the tournament with a 304 (+20) in round one before improving by seven strokes in the second round with a 297 (+13), positioning themselves firmly in contention heading into Monday's final round.
Claire Bradford led the charge in the second round with a 72 (+1), one of the top individual rounds of the day for North Georgia. Abby Franks followed with a 74 (+3), while Ellie Jane Riner carded a 75 (+4). Cora Mount posted a 76 (+5), and Mackenzie Connell rounded out the scoring five with a 77 (+6).
In the opening round, Connell paced the Nighthawks with a 75 (+4), while Bradford and Mount each turned in rounds of 76 (+5). Riner added a 77 (+6), and Franks finished with a 78 (+7).
Competing as an individual, Camryn Wright put together an impressive day, firing rounds of 74 (+3) and 73 (+2). Her second round was highlighted by an eagle on hole four.
North Georgia enters Monday's final round just three strokes behind third-place Ferris State as the Nighthawks look to climb the leaderboard and secure a top three finish.
