DAHLONEGA – The Peach Belt Conference announced the 2025 women's soccer preseason poll and preseason all-conference team Tuesday morning. The No. 12 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's soccer team was picked to finish second in the league this year.
Leading the poll with eight first place votes was reigning PBC Champion Columbus State (CSU), followed by the Nighthawks who earned two first-place nods. Flagler finished the voting in third place with one first-place vote followed by Lander and Georgia College to round out the top five.
On the PBC Preseason All-Conference Team were UNG seniors
Adleigh Wheeler and
Alex Clark.
Wheeler was a key leader in the midfield for the Nighthawks last season. Her four goals, three assists and 11 total points earned her a spot on the PBC All-Conference Second Team along with a nod on the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team.
Clark returns to UNG's back line this season after a stellar junior campaign in 2024. She netted two goals and three assists last season en route to joining Wheeler on the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team. Clark was also a major contributor to UNG's back line which stifled some of the best strikers in the country to limited scoring as the Nighthawks held Flagler, Clayton State, CSU and Lenoir-Rhyne to a combined two goals in the last month of the season.
UNG went on to finish last season by tying the deepest NCAA Tournament run in program history, making a Sweet 16 appearance for the first time since 2016 before ultimately falling to the Cougars.
The Nighthawks will look to once again return to the top of the conference as they enter this season in search of the third PBC Regular-season title in program history.
