DAHLONEGA – The Peach Belt Conference announced its softball Team of Academic Distinction for the 2024-25 academic year Friday. The University of North Georgia had seven student-athletes named to the team.

To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.

On the Nighthawk softball team, senior Angelina Badalament, junior Marycille Brumby, redshirt sophomore Caroline Conner, redshirt sophomore Tagen Levao-Maisonet, junior Chloe Poss, junior Natalie Ray and sophomore Journey Roberts were all named to the team.

Badalament earned her first career academic award from the conference after transferring to UNG from Bethune-Cookman this past season.

Brumby has now twice been named to the Team of Academic Distinction, totaling six academic honors in her career.

Conner also earned her first career academic award from the conference after transferring from Charleston last year.

Levao-Maisonet became a two-time Team of Academic Distinction member after earning the same award last year along with three other classroom accolades. 

Poss made her first appearance on the Team of Academic Distinction list this season. She was also a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Bronze Scholar last season.

With Friday's announcement, Ray became a first-time member of the Team of Academic Distinction after being named a 2024 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar Athlete last season.

Roberts also earned her first career Team of Academic Distinction honor this year. This comes after also being named a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar and NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete last season.

UNG softball has now had at least one player named to the PBC Team of Academic Distinction or All-Academic Team in every season dating back to 2009.
