Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team cruised to a 5-0 road victory at Tusculum on Monday. The Nighthawks (10-5, 1-0 Peach Belt) took down the Pioneers (1-11, 0-6 South Atlantic) behind a doubles sweep and four straight singles wins. UNG did not lose a single set in the wire-to-wire victory.
In doubles, freshman
Linn Goerdes and junior
Emily Bush raced past Tusculum for a 6-0 win. Seniors
Angelina Linnikova and
Carolina Reis then came away with a 6-2 win in #1 doubles to secure the early point for the Nighthawks.
In singles, UNG's first win came from senior
Ashley Moinard as she defeated Jimena Rivera Camacho 6-0, 6-0 in the #2 singles spot.
ITA women's singles No. 3 Linnikova rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory in #1 singles for her 13th victory this season.
Reis earned her fifth singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the #6 singles competition to seal the victory.
Goerdes added a final victory in #4 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Valeria Diaz.
The Nighthawks will return to conference play this weekend with a home match against No. 6 Flagler. The match is set to start on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m.
