DUE WEST, S.C. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia women's tennis team collected its third non-conference win of the season with a 6-1 road victory at Erskine on Thursday afternoon.
The Nighthawks swept the doubles point with easy wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles and the top line of
Johanna Lippert and
Viktorie Wojcikova battling to a 7-5 win.
In singles, North Georgia's five victories all came in straight sets and were highlighted by No.
Angelina Linnikova posting a quick 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Wojcikova (No. 3),
Svetlana Teterina (No. 4),
Ashley Moinard (No. 5) and
Carolina Reis (No. 6) each marched to singles win to secure the win. Reis' win in the sixth line marked her first singles victory of the season.
UNG will travel to Rome, Ga. to take on Shorter on Saturday, Feb. 15. The team will only play one match as the contest against West Alabama has been rescheduled to be a part of the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase in March.
