DAHLONEGA - The No. 7 University of North Georgia men's basketball team got a 32-point showing from the bench on the way to a 92-82 win over Georgia College & State University at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center on Wednesday.

The Nighthawks (12-1, 3-0 Peach Belt) had four players score in double figures, led by Frank Champion, who had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Cayden Charles added 17 points and seven assists and Giancarlo Bastianoni helped out with 17 points and two steals off the bench.

The Nighthawks connected on 35-of-39 (90%) of their free throws.
GCSU falls to 7-6, 0-3 PBC on the season. The Bobcats were led in scoring by Brendan Rigsbee's game-high 24 points.

North Georgia took advantage of great ball movement, piling up 21 assists on 25 made field goals. Charles' seven assists led the distribution list for the Nighthawks and Greg Billups, Jr. also added seven assists of his own.

North Georgia started out the scoring by going on a 6-0 run, culminating in a three from Champion, to take an early lead with 18:11 left in the first half. The Nighthawks then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 44-37 advantage.

North Georgia kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Bastianoni's three, to grow the lead to 60-51 with 12:47 to go in the contest. The Nighthawks kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 92-82 win.
The victory is the Nighthawks' eighth consecutive. UNG returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 13 with a road game at Columbus State. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.Â
