DAHLONEGA – Everything clicked in the No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team's 8-0 win over King (35-23) in the first game of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional #1 at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
Kristen Davis (16-1) started it off inside the circle, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out five. It was the eighth complete game of the season for Davis and the third shutout, keeping the Tornado in check for the afternoon.
It was a team effort at the plate, with three Nighthawks registering two hits apiece and seven batters driving in at least one RBI.

Sophie Mooney and
Olivia Sinquefield were the three with two hits in the game, as Mooney and Sinquefield added an RBI to their totals.
Sydney Blair,
Mariah Wicker,
Georgia Blair and
Gracie Mixson joined in on the run production with one RBI each, while
Aniston Wright pinch-hit for the run-rule walk-off, driving in the seventh and eighth runs in the bottom of the sixth by way of a right field single.
Next Up
The Nighthawks (55-6) will face the winner of the Columbus State and Lincoln Memorial matchup on Friday (May 12), with the winner of that game advancing to the regional championship.
